The Lady’s View Is Fine seeks to promote a positive outlook -which can be tough when you walk outside and find the whole world fighting a collective battle. “To be fine” is relative right about now.

I have my own prayer list in addition to the concerns that come up as I do life…

  • Parents figuring out how to navigate school and work when their options are impacted
  • Churches addressing issues of administration while walking out their calls to ministry
  • The effects of lessened social networks on individuals and the process of getting back together
  • A new homeless community living in the woods off the highway exit

I could go on….and I do, but at some point I roll up my lists into prayer sessions until there are no more words. Then I go to scripture and find the perfect language:

Psalm 27:4-6 NIV

One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.

For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock.

Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD.

Eyes On The Prize

First part of this scripture passage causes me to set my gaze on what is most important and block out all distractions. It is not until I return to The One who loved me enough to take my punishment that I get a release from the grip of anxiety that comes from cycles of world news bytes and difficult days.

When someone stands up for you, it endears you to them. A loyalty is formed. You trust them.

I trust Jesus because He stood up for me times infinity AND for infinity.  When The One who created love – reveals His love to you, it is life changing.  Gazing on the beauty of Christ clears the vision.  It makes the view just fine!

Foundational Security

Note that I am to sacrifice with shouts of JOY and sing and make music while I am surrounded by haters. I can do this because the Lord has exalted me from the place of trouble and elevated my head.  I can see HOPE from the high vantage point where God has placed me. I get to live life from this SAFE space!

Pouring From A Full Cup

Once I am spiritually filled, I can roll up my sleeves and get to work! We know what needs to be done, we just needed the motivation and inspiration to do it.

I let go of perfectionism a long time ago because Christ checked that off the list. Our contributions don’t have to be glamorous – an overflow of our gifts and talents mean the world to the world around us. We just have to walk it out!

Community On Purpose

It has gotten downright challenging  to go out here and “to people”  -yet community helps us to thrive!  Objectively collecting perspectives and gaining insight from others requires courage, maturity, self-control, and patience.  When we venture outside of social comfort zones more risk is involved. Yes, we are risking adverse or awkward social interactions – but there is a bigger question.

What are we gaining?

We are growing –in our character, in our wisdom. We are using our time well and we are speaking value to a diverse group of fellow humans, all made in the image of God. Perhaps we will even inspire folks to lean into Jesus. John 3:16 still works!

I’ll see you in the new normal XOXO
